*Speeding Two-Wheelers Collide, Leading to Fatalities and Critical Injuries*
In a devastating early morning accident on Sion Bridge, two individuals lost their lives, and another is in critical condition following a collision between a scooter and a high-speed sports bike. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. when a Honda Activa scooter, driven by 20-year-old Vignesh Sarode, was reportedly traveling in the wrong lane, leading to a disastrous encounter with a speeding Benelli TNT 300 bike.
The police report indicates that Sarode and his two passengers, Amol Kunchikarve, 20, and Animesh Avinash More, 23, were returning to Girgaum Chowpatty after immersing their Ganesh idols in Vikhroli. Meanwhile, 28-year-old Ashfaq Aslam Ansari and his companion, 30-year-old Mehendi Shahenshah Sayyad, were en route to Govandi after visiting a local mosque.
The collision occurred near Shiv Rajani Building on the bridge, resulting in catastrophic injuries. Animesh, riding as a pillion on the scooter, was thrown off the bridge upon impact and tragically died at the scene. Ashfaq was later pronounced dead at Sion Hospital later that afternoon due to his injuries.
Vignesh Sarode remains hospitalized in critical condition. The police have initiated an investigation into the accident, charging Sarode with wrong-side driving and causing death by negligence. Both Animesh and Ashfaq were notable figures in their communities, with Animesh being a student and Ashfaq running a small business in Govandi.
